[Which lawmaker or association should we send this to? Petition: Request for the legalization of humane end-of-life options (so-called euthanasia)]
*Updated regularly
*Petition and supplementary materials available here
Selection criteria
・A person who is not bound by a single ideology or doctrine and values the "right of individual self-determination"
-People and organizations interested in end-of-life medical care and nursing care
-People involved in the Death with Dignity Bill (legal guarantee of so-called passive euthanasia)
・Someone who can resolutely confront the violent responses of opponents (see last page)
Strategic Policy
While the aim is to legalize euthanasia, the word "euthanasia" should not be put forward as much as possible. It is important to take a stance that calls for the institutionalization of "respect for the individual's wishes at the end of life" and "the right to self-determination in medical care."
Our association uses the term "Humanitarian End-of-Life Choice " law.
- The target themes will be expanded to include "fundamental review of the medical and welfare systems," "promotion of living wills," and "expansion of palliative care," and will be positioned as part of the social security and medical systems.
- We will submit the petition to a wide range of members of the Diet (including city and metropolitan assembly members), medical and welfare organizations, and ask them to open a forum for discussion.

reference
In Japan, a "Death with Dignity Bill" (not a euthanasia bill, but the so-called " legislation of passive euthanasia ") was once almost submitted to the Diet ( March 2012 ).
And remember that there is a history of it being "violently" crushed by its opponents.
The result is the reality of life-prolonging treatments that continue to this day.

Opponents call for the legalization of passive euthanasia (the "death with dignity" bill in Japan).
How did you crush it?

However, when the debate began publicly in the Diet building, opponents stormed in and blocked the area, shouting, " Murderer! Murderer! "
Lawmakers receive threatening emails. Even making a slightly positive statement can get you in trouble.
Everyone is hesitant, and there are currently no lawmakers willing to step in to address this issue .
Unlike child care support or protecting pensions, such complicated issues won't get votes.
The media is not interested and does not report on it at all.
(omitted)
The reason why the discussion on dignified death is not progressing is
Disability organizations , incurable disease organizations , religious organizations , bar associations, etc.
This is because there is opposition (even the medical association has decided to postpone it).
